The last event weekend of The Old Great Square’s Christmas 2025 is here!
Today, on the 13th of December, The Old Great Square’s Christmas celebrates Saint Lucy’s Day. The celebration of Saint Lucy, Lucia of Syracuse, came to Finland from Sweden at the end of the 19th century. The feast has a long tradition in Turku as well, as the first Saint Lucy of the Svenska fruntimmersskolan i Åbo, a Swedish girl school, was chosen in 1898, only few years after the first appearance of Saint Lucy in Stockholm’s Skanssen on 1893.
In the Old Great Square the tradition is upheld by Lucia Group Music Performance at 2.30 PM. The Lucia Group of Puolala School will also be brightening the day with their singing at 2.00-2.15 PM and 4.00-4.15 PM.
You are warmly welcomed to enjoy the other performances and the market supply on account of the last weekend. The event will be open for visitors today and tomorrow between 11 AM and 5 PM.
See you at the Old Great Square!
